Book Titles

  1. Bringing the Past Into the Future: The Reconstruction of the Detached Kitchen at Riverside. Published in late 2003, this booklet takes you along on the journey to uncover, reconstruct and interpret the detached 1800s kitchen at Riverside. The booklet was produced in partnership with the Kentucky Archaeological Survey (jointly administered by the Kentucky Heritage Council and the University of Kentucky Department of Anthropology). It is part of the Kentucky Archaeological Survey’s Education Series.

Written by Patti Linn and Jay Stottman. Price: $5.00.

  2. Riverside: The Restoration of A Way of Life, Exploring the History of a 19th Century Farm on the Ohio River. Published in 1998, this generously illustrated volume traces Riverside's story from its earliest settlement through the establishment of a prosperous farm and active riverboat landing. Along the way, it shares the memories of flood and ruin, and finally restoration. Just as the mighty Ohio River drew the Farnsley and Moremen families to farm its rich land, it now draws thousands of visitors a year to learn about life along the river. Take home this fascinating tale of the property's history coupled with the chronicle of continuing efforts to interpret that history for modern visitors by ordering your copy today.

Written by Patti Linn and Donna Neary. (Hardcover) Price: $21.95.

  3. Riverside Receipts. Published in 1999, this attractive booklet reproduces favorite Moremen family recipes collected in the late 19th century by Nannie Storts Moremen (1856-1934). The recipes were originally recorded by hand in an unassuming notebook. This reproduction of recipes--or "receipts" to use the terminology of the period--is not designed to be a cookbook. Instead, it is designed to provide you with a small slice of the past, morsels to feed your curiosity about one of the most intimate aspects of everyday life.

Foreword written by: Patti Linn and Donna Neary. Price: $5.00.

  4. Historic Jefferson County. Riverside is pleased to be offering the latest edition of Historic Jefferson County in our Museum Store. Written and edited by Donna M. Neary, this popular catalogue of historic properties features nearly 300 houses, schools, churches and other buildings from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Historic and modern photographs of the featured properties appear throughout this 160-page soft cover book. A highlight of the new edition is a foreword written by author and former Courier-Journal Urban Affairs Editor Grady Clay. The edition also features recently documented African-American sites and historic sites on the Ohio River.
